As an American, standing on the outside looking in, I’ve come to appreciate the sense of pride and tradition many Europeans revel in. I live on one of the most ‘famous’ squares in Ludwigsburg, the Marktplatz, which boasts an ongoing ritual since the early 1700’s- Market Day. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday you can find our family strolling through one of the many wonderful stands, justifying our need to buy organically fresh local delights. This is a great stop for any eager shopper looking for an assortment of fresh produce (like my daughter who quite nonchalantly grazes the strawberries) and a little conversation. I find many of the farmers interesting, with a story to share and an avocado to pass. Set against the watchful eye of Eberhard Ludwig and directly in the middle of two gloriously ornamented baroque churches, the farmers market has something to suit every palate.
