I've spent a number of American Independence Days abroad, including the past four years here in Germany. We usually invite friends over for an all-American barbeque and the past two years I have made red, white, and blue cupcakes for dessert using fresh berries from our farmers' market. This year that may not happen as we will have a very full day with big brother's kindergarten having their summer festival during the day, and for the first time, the Ludwigsburg Palace's summer fireworks show happening exactly on July 4th! I'm excited as I quite miss a 4th of July fireworks show. The music program starts at 7 pm and the fireworks around 10:30 pm, entrance for adults is 9 Euro and kids over four, 5 Euro. So this will probably be our festivities for the 4th. What do you do if abroad to celebrate special holidays?

Oh how brilliant! An actual fireworks display on the 4th of July, I would LOVE to see! I will have to plan it out next year to try this! Thank you for sharing, and I wish you a happy 4th of July :-)
