We have not yet shared with our readers our favorite summer location to take the whole family for relaxing, playing, and inexpensive yet tasty meals. Biergartens! Don’t worry, despite my photo (courtesy world-traveling
hitherandthither), they are not all about beer. These are casual, outdoor eating areas that are often self-service unless part of a restaurant. And what delicacies are there to feast on? Some offer regional specialties such as our favorite
Badgarten in Ludwigsburg (Croatian) and
Bootshaus in Marbach (Greek). But biergartens always have schnitzel (breaded, crusty pork or turkey cutlets) and wursts (hotdogs of all sorts) and typically a play area for kids and kids-at heart to run around in. The Ludwigsburg Badgarten has a lovely grass area to run or kick a ball around and a playhouse, and the Bootshaus Biegarten in Marbach has a brand new climbing structure and offers picturesque view of the Neckar River. I can especially recommend biergartens while traveling in Germany for a fun, stress-free, unwind with the locals atmosphere. Enjoy!
