Oktoberfest

Dear Dirndl,
When I first laid eyes on you, I wasn't even sure how to pronounce your name. I somehow knew that your job was to make my breasts look beautiful and my (then fiancé) happy. I had no idea the significance of your tightly stitched bodice and the responsibility one had while wearing you. Now I can't imagine an Oktoberfest without you. You are the important other half to my husband's pair of lederhosen and although the seam is a little lower (come on, I needed a proper Dirndl...I am a married woman now) my love for you has remained the same.

It has been exactly one year since I last wore you to Germany's sixteen-day beer festival in Munich but I must say I've missed you very much. You look absolutely ravishing standing on the long beer table trying to withstand the Mass of beer spillage (a lot of beer in a rather large glass) and the juicy bits of mouth watering Hendl (chicken) I can't seem to get enough of. Thank you for all the good memories, for representing Bavaria the best way you know how (showing a lot of cleavage) and for carrying on a wonderful tradition that has served this country proud for more than 190 years.

As we celebrate the opening of Oktoberfest together let us enjoy the momentous occasion by dancing on the tables to wonderful German music, having more fun than one person can handle and reveling in a time honored tradition of toasting random strangers every 15 minutes. You, Dirndl are just as important as the beer itself, and although my wandering eye will acknowledge several beautifully embroidered dresses that will come in all shapes and sizes and embody gorgeous girls with braided hair, you will always hold a special place in my heart forever.

XOXO....

Cool post. I've always wanted a Dirndl, but unfortunately they just don't really wear them in Berlin (also no Oktoberfest of course, though no one in the U.S. can ever believe me....) I guess Bavaria is better with the sexy cleavage statements. :)
