The Christmas Market...

'Twas 4-weeks before Christmas, when all through the town, people were trimming and primping like hard working elves. The Santas were hung with stockings up high and chimneys with snowmen and gold crowns stuffed inside.

The stands were ready, the products were placed the festivity of lights reminiscent of space. Floating above the baroque themed MarktPlatz Square, were sprawling old churches with stories to share.

When out on the Marktplatz, large Angels in place, the church bells were donging people standing to wait. The microphone was on, the city mayor was ready to wish the people of Ludwigsburg good health and good merry.
Away to the window I threw open my shutters, the Christmas Market was open and nothing else mattered. The rush of tradition makes the holiday glow, with several years of history lying beautifully below.
With happiness inside and my girls patiently waiting, the carousels turned on and the high pitch of their screaming was enough to think back to those years long ago before carousels, sleigh bells and stands covered with snow.
From the Middle Ages to now the "Christkindlmarkt" shines with ravishing decor and beautiful pines. With Nutcrackers and *Mandeln and Lebkuchen o'plenty, Christmas for Germans comes with much celebrating.
Whether historically speaking or commercially so you can find handmade toys, decorations and candles which glow. The first rush of the season is now underway with thick nestled wreaths and glowing angles that pray.

The aroma above is not for all seasons, there's gluhwein and coco and doughnuts with raisins. And with so much food it's sure to slow down Santa's eight tiny reindeer and one white bearded frown.....

"No more thuringers, brats or curry laced wurst; flat schnitzels or pommes or sauerkraut bursts; no more potatoes with toppings 10 miles high, no more crepes or waffles with fresh made mulled wine." No more eating 'he' said as they flew out of sight quickly twitching his nose over the angels so high. "The Marktplatz was fun, beautiful, heavenly, but it's time to move on from this musical melody."

"More markets await with the 'Christkind' in tow ranging from the wonderous Alps to the valleys below." The last standing markt with Baroque Babies name, was a wonderful visit and I wish you the same. "Thank you for having me" he sang out of sight, and of course said "Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night."

*Mandeln (candied, toasted almonds...you know the ones!!!!)
