Valentine's Day is western imperialism at its best. The flowers, candy, small little gifts and romanticism of America's favorite Hallmark holiday has become a force to be reckoned with in the land of beer and brats. More and more I notice the heavily hearted chocolates staring up at me from the aisles of my local grocery store to the small imprinted bears with hearts on them. Whether or not the holiday seems silly to the Germans, I love the idea of passing cute Valentine Day cards to my daughter's classmates and sneaking those small candy coated hearts in her backpack. I even found this very cute heart Haba memory game for my girls Valentine gift.
Regardless if V-day is celebrated in your European household, I highly encourage you and the kids to get crafty, make some fun handmade cards for family and friends and honor this holiday season with a little love and alot of spirit!!

I'm always for handmade, especially with kids. We have to de-commercialize our (family) lives.
